Functional Tests

Test kits are shipped directly to you and can be done from the comfort of your own home. This is not a complete list of all the tests I offer but include the ones I often use in my practice. Please note test costs are not included in the package prices and in order to interpret your results and provide you with recommendations I require that you sign up to one of my packages
(with the exception of IBS Smart).

  • GI Ecologix Gastrointestinal Health & Microbiome Profile

GI EcologiX™ is the ultimate gut health and microbiome stool test using qPCR & ELISA technology to provide a comprehensive analysis of the GI ecosystem and chronic disease-related microbial (bacteria, yeast, parasites) markers, which are backed by the clinical literature, alongside host health markers.

It includes:
– 7 x health markers to assess inflammation, immune function, digestion, gut barrier health, and occult blood
– 63 x microbial markers including markers related to IBD, mucin degradation and gut barrier impairment, SCFA production, SIBO, H. pylori, dysbiosis, inflammation

  • IBS Smart®

IBS Smart test is a blood test that measures the levels of two validated IBS biomarkers known to be elevated in the blood of patients with post-infectious IBS. The two antibodies measured are anti-CdtB and anti-vinculin. If either antibody measures over the established threshold, then post-infectious IBS (IBS-D or IBS-M) can be diagnosed with confidence.

  • SIBO Breath Test

The breath test measures hydrogen and methane gasses in response to lactulose, a disaccharide (consisting of fructose and galactose) which is poorly absorbed by the intestine. If SIBO is present, the bacteria will begin to metabolise lactulose before it reaches the large intestine, causing an early increase in gas production. The remaining lactulose will then reach the large intestine, causing a second increase in gas production.

  • Lactose Intolerance Test

Breath test to assess lactose intolerance, an inability to digest lactose, the sugar found in dairy products. The hydrogen breath test is a simple non-invasive procedure. Intolerance to lactose typically lead to symptoms such as gas, bloating, diarrhoea or cramping when dairy products are digested. These symptoms are a result of the body’s lack of lactase, an enzyme normally produced by the small intestine that is needed to digest lactose.

  • Fructose Malabsorption Test

Breath test to assess fructose malabsorption, a digestive disorder when absorption of fructose is impaired. This results in an increased concentration of fructose in the intestine. Occurrence is often seen in patients identified to be suffering symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). However, due to the similarity in symptoms, patients with fructose malabsorption often fit the profile of those with irritable bowel syndrome.

  • Coeliac Profile & Gluten Sensitivity

The Coeliac and Gluten Sensitivity test is a blood test that measures important markers to aid in the diagnosis of CD including Total IgA, Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase IgA (tTG IgA), Anti-Deamidated Gliadin IgA (DGP IgA), and reflex Anti-Endomysial IgA (EMA IgA). Gluten sensitivity is assessed via Anti-Gliadin IgA and Anti-Gliadin IgG.

  • Metabolomix+

The Metabolomix+ is a urine test that offers a unique combination of nutritional tests that provides an analysis of key nutritional biomarkers to assess the functional need for antioxidants, B-vitamins, minerals, digestive support, fatty acids, and amino acids.

  • DUTCH Test Plus®

Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones if a urine and saliva test that takes hormone testing to a whole new level. In addition to sex hormones and their metabolites, the DUTCH Complete™ looks at the overall diurnal pattern of free cortisol, and the total and distribution of cortisol metabolites. The DUTCH Plus® adds the Cortisol Awakening Response (CAR) to bring another important piece of the HPA-axis into focus.
